Abstract

This community service programme aimed to support the implementation of an objective, transparent, and competency-based village apparatus selection process in Kumpulsari Village, Ngombol District, Purworejo Regency. This article discusses the assistance provided during the village apparatus recruitment process as a form of the implementation of the university’s tridharma in strengthening village governance. The scope of the study included the application of a Computer Assisted Test (CAT)-based selection system, computer operation practices, and technical assessments in the village apparatus recruitment process. The method employed was participatory assistance through coordination, preparation of selection instruments, test implementation, observation, and evaluation of the programme outcomes. Data were analysed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative approaches based on test results and observations conducted throughout the activity. The findings revealed that the use of a technology-based selection system enhanced the effectiveness, objectivity, and accountability of the village apparatus recruitment process. Furthermore, the programme improved the readiness of the village committee in implementing a modern selection system and strengthened public trust in village governance.
